Fallout New Vegas Power Armor Training Requirements And Locations
Equipping power armor in Fallout: New Vegas requires players to obtain a special perk before they can wear any variant of this heavy protective gear. Unlike standard armor pieces, these advanced suits demand specific operational knowledge that must be taught by specialized factions in the Mojave Wasteland. Securing this capability unlocks superior damage resistance and stat boosts necessary for surviving dangerous encounters.
Brotherhood of Steel Questlines in Hidden Valley
The primary route for obtaining power armor training involves locating the Brotherhood of Steel bunker tucked away in Hidden Valley. Players can initiate the quest titled Still in the Dark by entering the facility and agreeing to assist the faction's leadership. Depending on whether Elder McNamara remains in charge or is replaced by Edgar Hardin, completing the subsequent tasks allows the Courier to earn the perk alongside a suit of armor.
Assisting Elder McNamara requires finishing the Eyesight to the Blind assignment after resolving the initial bunker lockdown. Alternatively, helping Edgar Hardin leads to the quest Tend to Your Business, which awards the perk upon completion. Both paths provide a direct and reliable method to gain heavy armor authorization early in your journey.
Enclave Remnants Companion Quest
Another path to learning power armor operation is through Arcade Gannon's companion quest, titled For Auld Lang Syne. By recruiting Arcade at the Old Mormon Fort and traveling to key locations across the map, players trigger his personal storyline. This eventually leads to gathering the former Enclave Remnants at their secret bunker.
During the meeting inside the Remnants bunker, Daisy Whitman can teach the Power Armor Training perk to the Courier. Players are also rewarded with high-tier Enclave power armor suits for their efforts. This method serves as an excellent alternative for players who choose to destroy or alienate the Brotherhood of Steel.
Power Armor Suit Locations Across the Mojave
Once the training perk is active, locating high-quality suits becomes the primary objective for heavy armor builds. A full set of T-51b power armor can be looted from a dead seeker inside the Deathclaw Promontory. Players can also purchase or steal suits directly from Quartermaster Torres inside the Hidden Valley bunker.
Unique suits such as the Remnants Power Armor can be found at the Deathclaw-infested Promontory or obtained via the Enclave questline. Meanwhile, NCR Salvaged Power Armor offers an alternative for untrained players, as it stripped the servo-motors and does not require the training perk to wear.
